Midtown The Skylark Photo: The Skylark You know what that means…it’s nearly rooftop season! Whether this is your first spring/summer in NYC or your hundredth, you know there’s very few satisfying feelings that match up with a rooftop cocktail and a view. London as well to an extent but house and related genres are so popular it's the de facto bro music itself. All of the elements are finally aligning! The weather is getting warmer, the sun is here to stay, and temperatures are starting to rise. So no I don't think any crowds in other cities are better unless you count European cities and mostly just Berlin. The crowds in a lot of NYC venues tend to abide by the OG rave PLUR type values more than every other city in the US imo. The west coast does not have that much of a fratty bro scene everywhere so that kind of stuff can become a bit problematic around here in comparison. NYC has a lot of good spirited rave type clubs though this thread is an indicator of how some such venues are becoming more mainstream EDM to bottle servicey broey clubs. Nothing else in America compares to NYC though. LA does have underground raves that are awesome. People talk shit on it sometimes but I like Exchange LA though it is more mainstream EDM. LA is often the same but has some exceptions. Can be fun but definitely with that uppity vibe. Vegas is pure mainstream bottle service type club BS. I've been to events in those three cities.

Elsewhere bar brooklyn crack#
At this point I crack and I start asking him what exactly the problem was and he just kept saying “go inside without your friend or get the fuck out” and all of this culminated in me and the big bouncer screaming “fuck you” at each other while I walk down Myrtle. He was all like “why are you disrespecting me? You think I’m gonna let you in when you’re disrespecting me like this?” etc etc.Īnyways, he cools down and says he’ll let my friend in, but then the BIG GUY bouncer steps in and says no and that my friend can’t go in because he disrespected the bouncer.

Obviously he was shocked and said something like “what do you mean” and the bouncer replied with his birthday to which my friend said casually, “my guy check your math, I’m 21.” This made that bouncer LOSE IT. I went with three friends (all of us over 21) around 10/10:30pm and they ID’d me and let me in but when the bouncer got to my friend behind me (who had turned 21 a few months prior) they told him he was underage and could let him in. I used to go to Elsewhere pretty much every weekend in 2019, then when I went for the first time after it re-opened following the pandemic in 2021 I had the worst experience.
